Google no longer displays Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency price charts directly in its search results. Users can still access Google Finance to view these charts, though.
Twitter users noticed over the weekend that Google’s search results no longer include a chart when looking for the price of Bitcoin. On the other hand, stock price charts continue to show up normally.
Discussions on Google’s decision to delete the cryptocurrency price charts have been triggered by the move. It’s interesting to note that even as of this writing, services like Ethereum Name Service (ENS) balance checks and the price of Dogecoin can still be found by searching for “DOGE.”

On October 14, 2024, Tiffany Fong (@TiffanyFong_) tweeted, “Why was the Bitcoin price chart removed by Google from its search results?”
For a long time, Google displayed real-time or near real-time price charts for major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin. This feature allowed users to quickly check prices without the need to visit external sites. However, this convenience seems to have changed recently.
Interestingly, Google Trends data shows that from October 13 to October 19, 2024, the search interest for “Bitcoin” dropped to its lowest point in the past 12 months. By the end of that week, global interest in the term was only 27% of what it had been during its peak in early March (March 3–9).
Though the enthusiasm around Bitcoin has slowed down in some places, El Salvador, which became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021, remains the leader in terms of interest in the cryptocurrency.
