Dean Norris, best known as Hank Schrader in Breaking Bad, had his X account compromised by scammers promoting a fake token called DEAN.
Hackers manipulated images and videos to make it appear that Norris was endorsing DEAN. A suspicious video claimed, “Hey, it’s me, Dean, and on January 25th, I’m declaring it’s real,” leading to speculation that it was a deepfake or a repurposed Cameo clip.
DEAN token peaked at $8.43 million on January 25 but plummeted over 96%, now valued under $60,000. In response to criticism, Norris angrily denied involvement, calling the scam a “complete, fake scam.”
Norris confirmed he does not use Telegram and rarely uses X. He only learned of the hack after receiving messages from friends. His account had also been targeted in November in a similar crypto scam tied to a former Fortnite player.
This incident adds to recent high-profile memecoin schemes, including Donald Trump’s unexpected token launch on January 18, which briefly reached a market cap of nearly $9 billion. The rise of fraudulent tokens continues to impact investors and celebrities alike.
